When it comes to showing class and elegance, Prithvi Shaw is the one who always tops the list among the young talents of Indian cricket. The same class he showed in a match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders when he smashed Ferguson over deep point for a maximum.
Playing first Kolkata Knight Riders scored 178-7. Shubhman Gill scintillating innings of 65 runs in just 39 deliveries which include seven fours and two sixes. Another major contribution to this total was done by Andre Russell. Russell again showed his muscle power and demolished Delhi before getting dismissed to Chris Morris.
Piyush Chawla at the end played a cameo of 14 runs in six balls only.
Delhi Capitals started their chase very well. They scored 32 runs in first three overs before getting their first wicket down. Prithvi Shaw, who scored dazzling 99 when the two teams last met, couldn’t able to replicate that performance. But he gave the DC the right start which they required to chase 179 runs. He played a quick cameo of 14 runs which includes two sixes in Lockie Ferguson’s over.
The first six was on a length delivery when he got down on one knee before carving it over deep point for maximum. It was a flat hit from the youngster but what influenced everybody was his timing.
The second one came couple of balls later when Ferguson tested him with a bouncer and Shaw getting a top edge taking it to the top of keeper’s head for another maximum.
After Prithvi’s dismissal first Shreyas & Dhawan and then Pant & Dhawan carried on the chase. Dhawan showed his experience in the run chase and shattered the KKR bowling line-up with his unbeaten 97 runs. He with Pant had a gigantic partnership of 105 runs. Rishabh Pant got out on 162 when he tried to bang Nitish Rana but was caught by Kuldeep Yadav.
After his dismissal the result was just a formality. Ingram and Dhawan completed this run chase as Delhi Capitals got over the line in the penultimate over itself.
